Hey beauty fam! πŸ‘‹

If you've ever looked at your monolids in the mirror and wondered, "How do I make my eyes pop without looking too extra?" β€” you're SO not alone. I've been there! As someone with monolids, I used to feel like nothing showed up on my eyelids.

But after a lot of trial and error (and failed eyeliner attempts πŸ˜…), I finally figured out a soft, natural makeup routine that really works β€” and it actually stays visible when my eyes are open! So today, I'm sharing my go-to tips with you πŸ’• Ready? Let's glow up together!

Start with a Smooth Base

First things first β€” always prep your lids! I use a tiny bit of eye primer or concealer to even out the color on my eyelids. Then I dust on a bit of translucent powder so everything blends better and doesn't crease later in the day.

Pick Soft, Natural Shadows

Instead of dark or dramatic colors, go with soft earthy tones. I usually use:

β€’ A light Beige or beige as my base color

β€’ A warm brown to shade my outer corners

β€’ A tiny bit of shimmer (soft gold) on the center and inner corner

Apply the base a bit higher than your lash line β€” just enough to peek through when your eyes are open!

Tightline Instead of Thick Eyeliner

This is a game-changer! Instead of drawing a thick black line, use a brown gel pencil to tightline your upper lash line (fill in the gaps between lashes). It subtly defines your eyes and keeps the look natural.

Mini Wing, Big Impact

A full cat-eye doesn't always work for monolids β€” it can disappear in the crease. What I do is draw a small flick that lifts slightly up and out from the outer corner. Just a mini wing β€” enough to elongate the eye shape without being too obvious!

Time to Curl and Lengthen

Don't skip this step! I curl my lashes with a warm lash curler (you can gently heat it with a hairdryer for a few seconds), then apply a lengthening mascara. Focus on lifting the lashes upward β€” it helps open the eyes so much! πŸ‘€

Pop Some Highlighter

Use a little shimmer or highlighter on your brow skeletal and the inner corners of your eyes. You can also dab a tiny bit under the center of your lower lash line to make your eyes look more awake and 3D!

Shape Your Brows

Brows really frame the eyes. I like mine soft but slightly arched β€” it creates a little more space above the lid, which gives the illusion of bigger eyes. Just brush, fill in, and set with brow gel!

Practice Makes Pretty

It took me a while to get the hang of this, but once you know what works for your eyes, it becomes super quick. Everyone's eye shape is a little different β€” monolid, double lid, hooded β€” and every one is beautiful πŸ’• So keep trying until you find what makes you feel confident.
