Hey Lykkers! Are you ready for an unforgettable adventure? We sure were when we set off to visit Guatape, Colombia.

This vibrant town, known for its strikingly colorful houses and breathtaking views, left us in awe at every corner. Let us take you through our journey of discovering the magic of Guatape!

Feasting on Local Delights

One of the highlights of our trip was, without a doubt, the food! Guatape is known for its empanadas—a golden, crispy pastry stuffed with a variety of fillings. We had the pleasure of trying some at a local favorite, El Mirador de Guatape. These empanadas, paired with a refreshing limonada (limeade), were the perfect start to our day. The town also offers delicious arepas, a type of cornmeal cake that's often served with cheese or butter, and we couldn't get enough of them. We stopped by La Llama del Sol, a rustic restaurant with an inviting atmosphere, where we enjoyed freshly made arepas for just around 5,000 COP each. Whether you're enjoying a quick snack or a hearty meal, the food here is sure to please.

Where to Stay: Comfort and Convenience

After a day of exploring, we were ready to rest, and we found a fantastic place to stay at Hotel El Descanso. This charming hotel, nestled just outside the main town center, offered us a peaceful retreat with views of the surrounding hills and lake. The rooms were spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, making it the perfect place to relax after a busy day. We especially loved the tranquil garden and the delicious breakfast served each morning. Room rates start around 150,000 COP per night, making it an affordable yet comfortable option for anyone visiting Guatape. The hotel's friendly staff made us feel right at home, offering great recommendations for local activities and restaurants.
